Mysterious history of Pie

March 14 is World Pie Day. Larry Shaw celebrated his first Pie Day in 1986 in San Francisco, USA. Pie Day has been celebrated every year since then. March 14 is celebrated as the value of arithmetic constant pie (Ï€) is 3.14. The value of pie is 3.1415926 ..... which is an infinite and uncovered value.

The value is obtained by dividing the circumference of the circle by the diameter.  So its quality has a beginning but no end. Many enthusiasts of numbers can memorize many numbers.

The ancient Babylonians knew about the existence of pie 4,000 years ago. The value of pie was calculated to be 3.125 on a Babylonian tablet obtained in 1900-160 before the birth of Jesus Christ. In 1850, the Egyptian mathematician Papyrus Pie found the value to be 3.1605. The value of pie is known from the Bible of 600 AD.

Archimedes was the first to try to determine the value of pie in a geometric way. But failed to find out precisely. However, show the value through mathematical inequality 223/6 <Ï€ <22/6. He was so busy determining the value of the pie that the enemy entered the house and killed him!

Aryabhatta of India gave the formula for determining the value of pie in 500. The formula is: “By adding 4 with 100, multiplying by 8, adding 62,000, you get the circumference of the circle. Which dividing by diameter 20,000, the value of pie will be 3.1418. Values derived from his formula are still being used.

Fibonacci worked in 1220 and Isaac Newton in 1665 to determine the value of pie.The symbol of the pie (Ï€), was first used by William Jones in 1808.

We currently use the value of pi as 3.1418. And in the NASA laboratory, up to 39 numbers are counted after the decimal. There is no end to the interest of mathematicians, researchers and scientists in pie. So they are constantly trying to find new values for the pie. This research may continue ...
